Whitcher Projects presents Cecil’s Chair: an exhibition by Zachary Armstrong in coordination with the inaugural artist-in-residency program at The Blackheath Arts Club in the Blue Mountains of New South Wales, Australia.

Set in rural Australia during the December holidays, Armstrong’s raw practice continued to explore his range of art forms outside the conventional dictates of the art world. Concentrating almost strictly on painting, Armstrong took advantage of the 3 week residency by focusing his attention towards investigating the intimation of repetition and texture with former ideas he had not yet realized until now. The outcome: a series of paintings ranging in size with subjects covering furniture, colorful flowers, and nosey self portraits.
